Build Out Plan
April 2015 Update: Work on the new vessel haul-out piers at the Port of Toledo Boatyard is in full swing. The Port’s contractor, Bergerson Construction of Astoria Oregon, is currently constructing new piers designed to accommodate vessels up to 620 tons. The engineering firm of Berger ABAM, together with Bergerson Construction, designed the piers to meet the Port’s design criteria for work flow and capacity while working within the site’s physical limitations. Bergerson Construction worked expediently to complete installation of piling ahead of the in-water work period which ended February 15, 2015.
An additional 21 piling were driven upland to support the concrete apron for the approach way to the pier. Vessel maintenance operations at the Toledo Boatyard have continued during construction with minimal interruptions.
Thank you to the construction crews, boatyard customers and vendors for their continued cooperation with each other as we continue with this project. Pier Construction is scheduled to be completed by June 1, 2015. The Port has signed a contract with Central Lincoln PUD to move the overhead power lines.
Currently the lines run through the middle of the upland area which will be the vessel work area. The lines are being moved to the hill above the boatyard this summer. During Spring 2015, Port staff will be making the site improvements needed to relocate the power poles. Final engineering for water, fire suppression, and sewer improvements is ongoing. As soon as the final budget for these tasks is determined, a request for proposals will be made for the new lift.
The Port of Toledo’s 2013 Boatyard Build Out Plan significantly expands the boatyard’s haul out capabilities by replacing a dry dock with a 300+ ton mobile lift. The plan also calls for the addition of a cargo transfer area and associated infrastructure to increase regional connections between marine, rail and highway modes of transportation.
